Ben is originally from the small Central Otago town of Cromwell but moved north to Wellington in 2019 to study. He is studying for a conjoint bachelors degree in commerce and arts, majoring in finance, economics, international relations and political science at Victoria University.

Ben believes in the National Party values of reward for hard work and dedication, limited government, individual responsibility and free enterprise. It is because of these values that he joined the Young Nats in his first year at the VicNats' 2019 O-Week stall.

In his spare time, Ben enjoys watching sport, whether it be a Formula One Grand Prix in the early hours of the morning, or the Highlanders playing in the Super Rugby.
